“Since immersing myself in the creative sonic world, one of my favorite hobbies is enjoying real acoustic performances in public places. Whenever I hear them, I stop and close my eyes. They give me new discoveries and inspiration.”

Prior to joining Gigantic Studios, Ai worked for more than two decades as a production sound mixer and recordist for major Japanese broadcasters such as NHK (The Japanese Broadcasting Corporation), Fuji Television Network, TV Asahi Corporation, and others. She has worked with various filmmakers all over the world for documentaries and scripted films, as well as on news and sports television coverage.

Over the years, Ai grew more interested in understanding how the audio she gathered in the field would be used and edited. She came to realize that she wanted to take her experience and trained ear to the creative post-production sound world. An opportunity to join the team at Gigantic launched her into this new field, where she has since thrived as a sound editor and mixer. In 2022, Ai earned a News & Documentary EMMY® nomination in Outstanding Sound as a Sound Effects Editor on

The First Wave, directed by Matthew Heineman.
