Peter Russell

Sound Supervisor, Re-recording Mixer

“There’s a moment that always thrills me after going through the initial pass on a dialogue edit. For the first time,

you see the story without the seams and edges that betray its construction. That, more than anything, is

the essential work: telling the story.”

Peter’s first exposure to the audio post world was shadowing recording sessions with his Dad, an accomplished voice actor for video games and radio plays. Peter then took an indirect route to the world of audio post, first as an actor himself, then a composer, a director, a location sound recordist, and finally a sound editor and mixer. This variety of experience makes Peter an enthusiastic and empathic collaborator with all who come to Gigantic. In his time at the studio, Peter has had the privilege of working on films and TV series, such as Showtime's Couples Therapy, National Geographic's Photographer, and the Yorgos Lanthimos film Poor Things, for which he was nominated for a Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel award for Best Dialogue and ADR Editing.

Outside of the studio, Peter is the father of a baby boy who makes a variety of compelling sounds. He is also a screenwriter who has had shorts and a feature place in several national competitions and festivals.
