Mehar Gujral

Mehar (pronounced /mā/ like the month, /(h)er/ like the Spike Jonze film) is an in-house producer at Gigantic Studios, where her credits in post feature the Emmy and Peabody-winning National Geographic series THE PHOTOGRAPHER, Apple TV’s THE DYNASTY: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS, and projects ranging from scripted features to short & episodic that have played at festivals around the world including THE LIFE & DEATHS OF WILSON SHEDD (TIFF 2026), MANHOOD (SXSW 2026), MADDIE’S SECRET (Magnolia Pictures, TIFF 2025), HOLDING LIAT (Berlinale Winner 2025), and BUNNYLOVR (Sundance 2025).

 

Born in India, Mehar grew up in Punjab, Ontario and New Jersey, and worked at nonprofits in Johannesburg and Mumbai before pursuing a master’s degree in Journalism and Documentary Film at New York University. Her work as a filmmaker and writer has been supported by the NY Emmys Foundation, the South Asian Journalists’ Association, and NYU’s Production Lab. She’s previously worked at American Documentary for their show POV on PBS, the longest-running showcase of nonfiction films on American television, Josh Zeman’s After Hours Productions, and the Oscar-winning production company Sikhya Entertainment.

 

In addition to her work at Gigantic, Mehar serves on the ReelAbilities Young Leadership Board, and is a member of the New York Women in Film & Television, Brown Girls Doc Mafia, and the Asian American Documentary Network.
